Weddings and Blessings
Couples thinking of marrying should first ring the vicar (01482 811441) and make an appointment to see him. It is never too early to book a date for your wedding and we often arrange dates two years in advance.
At St Peter’s we have a small church, seating approximately 120 people, and this has to be considered when thinking of getting married here.
We do live in an area where it is often found that the chosen venue for a reception is not available, so book early! Our own Church Centre has been used for receptions in the past.
Each year, usually in February, the vicar runs a ‘Marriage Preparation Course’ which consists of five sessions. Some of the subjects discussed are communication, conflict and resolving conflict, love, in-laws and how to deal with them.
If one or both of the people are divorced a marriage service cannot take place, but a service called ‘A Celebration of Marriage’ after a civil ceremony at the register office is possible. This will be explained by the vicar.
